Gracey curettes - customized for embossed subgingival depuration
Gracey curettes are area-specific depuration instruments used primarily to remove plaque and tartar below the gumline. Thanks to their unique design with only one cutting edge and rounded toe and back, they can work efficiently and with minimal tissue damage in deep gingival pockets.
Function & clinical value Gracey Curetter
- Designed to precisely conform to the anatomy of the root - the blade is angled approximately 70° to the shaft, creating a lower cutting angle for safe subgingival access.
- Often used in the non-surgical treatment of periodontitis, including scaling and root planing to restore periodontal health.
Common models of Gracey curettes and their applications
1/2, 3/4 for anterior teeth and premolars
5/6 also for posterior premolars
7/8, 9/10 for buccal and lingual surfaces of molars
11/12, 13/14 for mesial and distal posterior surfaces respectively
15/16, 17/18 with improved access to posterior mesial and distal surfaces in tighter areas
